How do you play the needle game?

Tap to shoot a pin into the spinning circle. Every pin sticks where it lands. If its head touches another pin's head, you lose the level. Get all the pins in to pass.

Yes. Your progress saves automatically, and a progress code lets you continue on another phone or computer.

How to play Spindle, the needle game

Spindle is a free one-tap game. A circle spins in the middle of the screen and you shoot pins into it. Each pin sticks where it lands. If two pin heads touch, you lose the level.

The rules

Tap anywhere on the screen (or press the space bar) to shoot the next pin.
Pins always land at the bottom of the circle, then spin with it.
Some levels start with pins already on the circle.
Get every pin in without two heads touching to pass and unlock the next level.

There are 1,320 levels. The circle gets faster, the gaps get smaller, and new kinds of spinning appear as you go.

The 8 spin modes

Flip on hit	Level 61	Changes direction every time a pin lands.
Accelerate	Level 81	Starts slow and keeps speeding up, then resets.
Erratic	Level 101	Changes speed and direction without warning.

Tips for hard levels

Watch the bottom of the circle, not the pins. That's the only spot that matters.
Fill the biggest gaps first. Save the tight spaces for when you know exactly where they are.
On stop-and-go levels, only shoot while the circle is frozen. While it's still, the pin lands in the same place however quickly you react.
On flip-on-hit levels, expect the change. Every pin you land sends the circle the other way.
Take your time. There's no timer. Waiting for the right gap always beats rushing.
