Privacy
Spindle keeps only what it needs to save your progress and keep the game running fairly. There are no ads and no third-party trackers, and nothing is sold.
What's recorded when you play
- A random player ID, stored in a cookie on your device, so your progress follows you.
- Your progress: levels unlocked, the level you're on, and when you passed levels.
- Your IP address and approximate location (city, region and country, worked out from the IP address), and your device and browser type.
- When you visit: first visit, last visit and number of visits.
- Messages you send with Message to Admin, plus any email or name you choose to include.
Why
To save and restore your progress, to stop cheating and abuse (including blocking people who misuse the game), and so the person who runs Spindle can see roughly who's playing and answer your messages.
How long it's kept
Play records are deleted about a year after your last visit. Messages are kept until they're deleted from the inbox.
Who else is involved
Spindle is hosted on Netlify, which stores this data and handles every request. The fonts come from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when they load. Nothing else is shared.
Your choices
You can clear Spindle's cookies in your browser to start fresh as a new player. To have your records deleted, send a request with Message to Admin on the home screen.
